 A while back I posted a problem with ordering pictures in the "my pictures" folder that I download from my digital camera or scanner or wherever. I was told to go View - Arrange pictures by ... Which sounds logical, but it just doesn't seem to work. I've tried every possible way offered. I can drag and drop and get things in order but next time I look, they are not in order. OR-- some are in order but a few will be at the end in no order whatsover. I've tried every combination I can think of and my pictures still don't stay where they belong. Anyone have any ideas?

I have never had that problem so I will tell you how I file my pictures.

First I set my picture file up like this:
Drive C / Documents and Settings / My User Name / My Documents / My Pictures.

I have many folders containing over 1500 images that I have taken with my digital camera.
Each folder is named according to the pictures it contains.
View is set to "Thumbnails ". That way I can see a small image of each picture in each folder.

You might want to try that. :D

Thanks Arkie -- That sounds about like what I do, but where I'm having my trouble is within those last folders. For ex. I'm following my son's house being built and I'd like the pictures in the folder to be in order chronologically. When I ask xp to sort it that way, it just doesn't. Any more ideas? THANKS

One thing I didn't mention, I use software called ThumbsPlus , to arrange my images. I sort by name or date and they never change. I've had and used T+ for several years but I noticed my Dell came with a free Dell image program that could be used the same way. There is probably something free on the web that will do the same thing.

Sorry, but I don't understand why your images would move around in the folder after you arrange them? :)
