When editing (fine-tuning) a long outgoing e-mail message, or modifying a message I want to forward, specifically by manually adjusting the left margin, hitting the ENTER key for the wrap around often causes an Outlook Express error message window to appear which requires closing out of OE. I am prompted to send a report to MS but this is useless. I am returned to my Desktop and have to open OE again. The message I was working on is in the DRAFT folder but any work done after the last time I manually clicked on SAVE will have been lost and has to be repeated.
This only happens when I hit the ENTER button, and not every time I do.
Any idea what is going on and how I might avoid this from happening? It is a royal pain in the butt.

The error message has a "details" button/link. Post it here.

    OE error message

    Thanks for your interest.

The only non-generic info I find is:
    AppName:msimn.exe AppVer:6.0.2800.1141
    ModName:mshtml.dll ModVer:6.0.2800.1141
    Offset: 0013d8b8

The message is: OE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Or am I missing something?

The first thing to try is to go to Start>Run and type in "regsvr32 mshtml.dll" (without the quotes) and click OK.

If that doesn't solve the problem, go back to the Run window, type "SFC" (without the quotes), click OK. Tell System File Checker to extract mshtml.dll from your Windows CD and put it in C:\Windows\System.

If a new copy of mshtml.dll still doesn't fix the problem, it's time to scan for spyware. Gator has been known to cause mshtml errors.

Finally, if all that fails, do a complete virus scan. The Happy99 virus has been known to cause various mshtml errors.

This could also be caused by an older OE patch. I had that same problem, but it disappeared at a later stage, so I suggest you make sure you have the latest patches for IE/OE.

My mshtml.dll file (on XP Pro) is ver 6.0.2800.1170.
