The setup is that the machine is a dual-processor Pentium box and the OS is XP-Pro service packed to the nines.

The problem is an application that, when run, looks at the processor ID to decide if it is on the same system or not.

The symptom is When the OS decides to schedule and run the application on the OTHER processor, the application dies.

To clarify, after installation, the application runs on whichever of the two processors the system schedules. The next time the application runs, if the OS picks the other processor, the application decides that it is not on the same machine and it ejects a "not registered" notice along with not running. This seems to bugger the app for either processor.

The history to date includes a call to the application support personnel who state that they do not support the application on a dual processor system, apologies all around, and does I want my money back. Dead-end.

My question: IS THERE A WAY to tell the OS to always schedule the same processor for a particular application?

Quick thought, is there a function in your BIOS to Enable/Disable processor identification? If so, try it Disabled, you never know!
