mozilla 1.4 mail has a new feature in "junk mail control ". but besides that it will compare with the address book, is there any other rule to judge an email as junk mail? Is there any doc on that?

    Hi bluesky,

Two pages that will help you better understand the new Junk Mail feature:

Getting Started with Mozilla Mail Spam Filtering
How to Fight Spam with Netscape, Mozilla

As I have seen discussed, the Mail has to be "trained" as to Junk and Not Junk. If you're getting spam, but it is not marked as such, then you have to manually mark it now, or until the filter is trained.

You should mark messages that are not junk as "not junk ". In the beginning you have to train by marking both (junk/not junk) whether Junk Mail does anything with it or not.

You, probably, know everything, by now, or gave up on Junk Controls.
My first experience was that all messages were marked junk. So, I had to uncheck them one at a time. As time went by no good e-mail has ended in the junk pile.
Just to test the Controls, I turned off the filters, and on an average day, Junk Controls is much better. Filters have to update continuously, but Junk Controls learn.
But, you have to check the Junk folders.
As for automatic dumping, which has 14 days as default, I could not wait to see if the default time worked, and nothing less has ever functioned. I set for 2 or three days, and five and six days old e-mail sit there.
No, I manually delete the messages. and, it is a thrilling site to have 50-60 e-mail go in the Trash with one click!

    re: junk mail

Yeah. I observed that "junk mail" learns and judges if an email is to be unk or not. And it is pretty good at that. But I am not sure how since I still have to check the junk mail box to be sure that I do not lose any good mail. :p
