Given that ME isn't running properly you will want a completely fresh start.

The 2K install CD is bootable so set your BIOS to boot from CD. Then just boot up with the 2K CD in the drive. Fairly early in the process you will get the options about where to install the OS. Select to delete whatever is there, format the drive, and proceed.

You do need to decide on using FAT32 or NTFS for your file system.

NTFS has more security options if you need them and is more efficient at managing hard drive space on any larger drives. Also more stable IMO although there may be some who would argue the point.

FAT32 is seen by some as easier to work with. For one thing, you can boot from a 9X floppy and work with files on the hard drive if you need to. Not possible with NTFS.

If you have a home network, the file system on the 2K PC isn't an issue since the networking piece takes care of that and 9X/ME can do fine with files on the 2K PC.

And if you already knew all the file system stuff, there will be others reading this thread for information who may not.
