    Daizy,
It says" THis program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" Detail: kernel32.DLL at 015f:bff9d709.
I have no virus and scan disk shows no errors.
    Thanks
    Dave

It says" THis program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" Detail: kernel32.DLL at 015f:bff9d709.

That may be an operating system problem. Even though IE brings it up.

Kernel32 is an OS system file.

What OS and version of IE are you using ?

    Hi Dave1234
Do you think perhaps this could be the problem?

    Daizy

    *edit*
There's one here as well, though it sounds less like your particular problem.

Try deleting your Temporary Internet Files from DOS... Here's how.

Also what you could try is to go to Control Panel, select add/remove software.

Select Microsoft Internet Explorer and then you should have a choice to repair IE.

Hopefully this will replace some incompatable files.

Even though the error says Kernel32.dll, that may not be the problem file. It is more than likely the file that comes after it. Or even maybe the one just before it.

But Kernel32.dll in one of the MAIN OS files.

Have you tried more than one search engine ? I mean if you are using Google, try something else. If the problem still exist then it is an OS/IE problem. If it does not exist then it is a search engine problem.

Thanks to all for help, but its not fixed.

    Billy Bob,
The problem occurs with all search engines. I repaired IE, no help.

    Arie,
I deleted TEmp Internet files from Windows, is DOS different and more complete?

    Daizy,
I attempted to delete thumbs.db file in Win Explorer. When I pull up folder options i dont see any thumbs file. According to Knowledge base article 188540 it says "delete the thumbs.db file in the folder for which Thumbnail view is enabled. "

Huh? I need help on this one.

Your second suggestion does not apply.

    Thank you. Dave

    Daizy,
I just tried to search five times. On four I got the kernel error message. One time the error detail read: URLMON.DLL at 015f:702bdd72

    Hi again Dave1234
It would be more helpful to have the complete error message if possible. For elimination purposes, have you downloaded and ran Adaware?

Those are BOTH main files of the OS.

It may require a re-install of the OS to fix them Properly and permanently. And to get rid of some incompatabilities somewhere.

I have never done a reinstall. Do you have a good link that will take me through step by step?
    Thanks

For me it now depends on waht kind of a machine you have.

If you an HP. Dell, Gateway or similiar then I can not help.

But if you have a home brewed one then I can make some suggestions.
