    Can anyone help?
I have a Nvidia Geforce 4 mx 420 graphic card with TV out.
The TV out was working fine until I installed a windows xp udated driver for the card.
Now everything is OK when playing games via TV out but when I try to play a Video file(Avi,Mpg etc.) It plays fine on the computer but on the TV the sceen where the video file should be playing is blank the sound is fine though.

I have tried a load of different Media players but to no avail.
I also did a restore so I could go back to using the old graphic card drivers but after that every time I reboot I get a message saying nvtwk dll file is missing and can't get rid of this.

Please help,if I wasn't already bald I'd be tearing my hair out.

    Next....

If you want to remove the current drivers and reinstall the old......unfortunately you are out of luck with me...I'm a DOS based 3.1/95/98 man. If you don't have any luck here (hardrdware), try the XP forum on how to remove the new and reinstall the old drivers.

    Thanks for the link.

I managed to get the old drivers installed again but the Video will still not play on the TV.The only thing it could be is that I recently downloaded updates from Windows update so it must be one these updates that's causing the problem. It's not a major problem but it means I can't copy AVI files straight onto video tape now.I'll just have to convert them to Mpeg files and make VCD's or SVCD's which can be a hassle if there are any flaws in the AVI file.

Thanks again for that link,I'm going to try something that was suggested in the FAQ.

I gave up on hair a long time ago:D

I have got round the problem by connecting the TV out cable and then disconecting the monitor and when I start the computer my Geforce card detects the TV as my video output and after Windows is loaded the video files are working fine.

Thanks again Matt.I got the idea from the Nvidia faq.I'll have to start thinking about looking at these things,I've always been a not bother looking at instructions kind of person.:)

    Glad it was of help.
The details on how you sorted it out may be of assistance to others.
Other sites that you may want to visit are ATI and Matrox. They also have very good information and FAQ's on setting up second screens (maybe you will find some info that overcomes your "workaround ").

mmm...It may take some time before we get "Zero Hair Loss" computers:D .
