USB probs

everytime i plug in a usb device (digi cam, scanner, webcam, etc) xp (pro) crashes and i have to switch the thing off and restart to get it to work..

i can plug the usb device in b4 i start up and it will work. just not while the conputers on...

whats going on??? it was alright when i had win Me on here.

i tried deleting out of device manager, windows put em back but it still happends

any help?

 

Personally I never plug in or uplug anything while the computer is on.I just feel it is too risky.

What chipset is on the motherboard?

If its a VIA chipset, go to: VIA Drivers
Grab the latest Hyperion 4 in 1 drivers for XP

If its an Intel, make sure you have the XP service pack one installed.

If its a SIS chipset go to: SIS download center

I have only seen crashes on XP with old outdated drivers and the USB ports. The same thing has occured on me with winME as well.

i just reinstalled my whole PC and now i got the problem again!!

i installed that via patch which fixed it b4 but now it wont! and it goes back to crashing every time i plug a usb in!!

what do i doooooo

 

Did you install Service Pack 1A?

 

rite, it fixed itself for no reason. i tell u im having the one of the worst installs i can rememver having. everything is playing up!!
