I'm running IE 5.01 on Window's 95B OSR2 and can't read the help file type .chm at present. The hhupd.exe 1.40 at Microsoft is incompatible with 95. Will installing hhupd.exe 1.31 clear this up or is there some other problem? The .chm file type is the newer help file type.

    According to this page.
That should be just the thing for 95.

    Update

An update for win98 can be found HERE but it may not work with win95 so be very cautious if you install it as there is no uninstall available

A manual uninstall of the HTML Help Workshop involved deletion of itcrl.dll, stdole2.tlb, itss.dll, asychfltr.dll, oleaut32.dll, olepro.dll, and hh.exe on my Windows 95 system. A subsequent installation of hhupd.exe version 1.32 from Axcel216's help site fixed my RPC stub error problems and the error messages resulting form use of "Find on a Page." No uninstalling and reinstalling of IE, nor use of repair commands in Add/Remove, helped with this problem. The problem resulted from attempting to update the HTML Workshop using the currently available download 1.4 from the Microsoft update site. As pointed out, the hhupd.exe 1.4 is NOT compatable with Windows 95. Axel216's download is found in the subject matter at his site about Windows 95 and the HTML Workshop.

As an aside, I upgraded to IE 5.5 and Outloot Express 5 only to have OE not even run. Deletion of the Identities key, specifically the curly bracketed set of letters and numbers you get by clicking the plus sign beside Identities in Current Users, enabled me to run OE 5. And I initially could import my old mail only thru the menu item import, not thru the setup wizard.
