Hi, I posted a bit about this in another thread, but I didn't get anywhere, and I now have another problem, too.

I have an ATI Rage 128, Gigabyte GA71XE, Athlon 750, 384 pc100 RAM, IBM deskstar 40 gig udma 66 hdd, CDWriter, DVDROM etc. The problems I am having with Win 98SE are these -

I play a snooker simulation called Virtual Snooker by Celeris. It is effectively a dos-based game run full-screen. Once I exit the game, my display is shifted 1cm to the left. If I reboot, it becomes central again. I've tried alternative drivers from driverguide.com, but no change. (I've looked for updates to the game, but it's old and unsupported now, and a Geforce2MX400 doesn't produce this problem).

In the same game, the sound produces crackles and hiss all the time. The card is a C-Media and I've done the same driver changes as for the video card - no dice.

I also have an Epson 480 sxu USB printer connected to the machine. Quite often, the machine locks either during booting or turning off. The offending app seems to be an Epson one. I am downloading new drivers for the printer at this moment, to try and see if that helps, but has anyone else had similar problems with this model?

Sorry to post so many problems, but I hope someone can help.

    Many thanks.

Well, I am progressing, after a fashion. The solution to my sound and graphics problem has been to fit a different sound card, Sb PCI128 and a GeForce video card. Nothing else worked.

The new Epson drivers have made no difference to the shutdown behaviour.:(
