Hi - and Welcome to the board :D

Did you use the Network Wizard to set up the network?
Another thought - are you logged on as Administrator?

I don't use AOL (BTopenworld), but I am not aware of a problem in that area with XP.

pete i ran the network wizard....and this is the final results..i am on as admin.but still no joy.what gets me is that we have networked ok bu i cant run the internet from a client pc. it doesnt matter who i set up as the host as either of us still cant access through each other...i have an enabled internet gateway on this pc to the other but when i try to get into the properties on the other connection it wont open to enable sharing...if i could open the properties some other way i might be able to enable ics but i cant....ive asked aol and i got a "we dont allow ics on our software" but it worked with 98se and ME.

Maybe they are right, but why it worked OK on 98/Me I've no idea. Same version of AOL ?

Hope somebody else will come up with an answer soon. Sorry I can't help further.

A quick thought, do you have zone alarm on the pc that is actually physically connected to the internet? If so ensure that under "firewall" the "Internet Zone Security" is set to medium or it will not allow other machines to connect through to the internet.
I spent days banging my head against the wall with that one!
