In intenet explorer suddenly when trying to send mailmI get a prompt saying I need a didgital address, I have not heard of this before but I gather it is for security purposes. I dont need or want it so how do I get rid of it? I see that it checks something in the tools file but if I uncheck it it comes right back.
    Thank You

Are you sure it is not something about 128 bit encryption? To find if you have this, in IE, go to Help\About Internet Explorer, a window will open. Look for a line with Cipher Strength: should say 128 bit.
When doing email, are you at a webpage?
Or if you click on a email link and a email window opens up, if so, what is the email client?
What exactly is this something you uncheck under Tools\Internet Options?

In reply to your question when I went back to check I couldn`t get a check mark but I think it was in the message file but I have given up on the internet express as it just locks up and I have to restart so there is a major problem somewhere. Internet explorer works OK but the trouble is in express. I have went back to netscape and that seems to work without problems so probably best to stay with navigator.
    Thanks for caring.

In OE click tools>options>security and uncheck the line that says digitally sign all outgoing messages. Maybe ???

Just reread your first post. Are you talking about Internet Explorer with something like a Hotmail account or did you mean Outlook Express?

/I use outlook express and I did change a couple of setings about didgital address it rdidn`t lock up but came back with an error mesage saying server error 550 and another number ox800ccc79 and I dn`t kow what that means. Anyway navigator works fine so I might just uninstall explorer for a later version and that might work, that was suggested so perhaps that is the best solution.
    Thanks anyway.

I tried your suggestion and didn`t work. I will uninstall and replace with a newer version, it is the one that came with windows 98 so if I ever want outlook express that is what I will do. Thanks for the advice.

The error "server error 550" is occurring because you are on one ISP trying to connect to another ISP's SMTP server and are blocked. Or you are using the wrong email server, not your ISP's mail server. Your ISP should be able to provide the correct SMTP and POP3 servers to you. According to this google search, this is a common problem. This is why your email account has the option to use a specific ISP account to connect to a specific email account.
You should use the Outlook Express that is installed with your version of Internet Explorer, the one that comes with Win98 is outdated.
