I downloaded a desktop theme and when I went to turn it on it said it could not find the file when I clicked on the desktop themes icon in the control panel. I had a friend that supposedly knows about computers so he changed some of the settings in the startup menu and now when I start my compuer everything starts up like its supposed to except when the desktop would normally come up the screen goes black and the computer and monitor shut off. If anyone has any words of wisdom they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

    JynniferS,

Welcome to the board! If it was me, I would start the system in SAFE mode and reset the settings that were changed. Do you remember the file name? If so, do a search for it. If not, try downloading again, but just far enough to get the name of the file and the location, if possible. Try setting it up from there.

I usually keep pressing the F8 key during startup. I've heard of another way, but can't remember what it was. You may be correct in using the Ctlr key. I've just always used the F8 key.
