    Hello Folks,
This is an NEC machine running on win98se now fully patched up. It got the BugBear virus about a year ago, but AVG took care of this.
When I tried to apply the service packs to Office 2K, the update installation failed to recognise the data1.msi file from the installation CD. I uninstalled the office package and re-installed it after running JV16Tools registry cleaner. All went well except that
in Word - Help - Detect and Repair is greyed out and unavailable. When the mouse pointer is placed upon it, the balloon message says that the option had been disabled by the Administrator. I suppose this might be a Registry option? How do I go about to re-enabling it?
    Any Help greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this will work or not but it can't hurt.

Go into the Control Panel and to Add/Remove Programs, find Microsoft Office and double click. You'll get an option to Repair, choose that and follow the instructions.

    Thanks Kevin
I'll give it a shot. I didn't think that would work as the system is saying that the "Detect and Repair" had been disabled by the "Administrator ". I'll still give it a shot to follow the suggestion.
    Thanks again for helping.
