well this is a good one? got me any way.

i have a friend who has a cyrix 300mhz pc with 256mb of ram and windows xp sp1 with all the updates but for some reason his machine every so often comes up with a stop error, i have asked him to write it down but all he decided to write was this as follows:-

    STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804FE012, 0xF60049FC, 0x00000000)

thats all the current information i have so far he has no IEEE 1394 devices which i have read errors with so it isn't that.

I have changed RAM Modules still the same problem arises.

if any one has any ideas sugguest then please....

Spec looks quite low for XP ?

I'd need more info but if this is totally random (and its not a memory problem) then I'd say the CPU is at fault - either actually faulty or just struggling to keep up with the demands placed upon it.

Can you try his HD n another system (or another CPU in his) ?

good idea with the cpu been too slow or faulty but with this system been so old i can't try another cpu.

think it might be software problem a conflict of some type think i will try formating and reinstalling windows xp and see if that sovles it, the reason why i think it's software is he's a download junkie and likes to download all kinds of rubbish and install it on his system

just wondered if any one had come a cross a similar stop error and knew anything about it

also he now tells me that there might have been an error message like Bad_Pool_Call then the error code
