Just got new harddrive and downloaded/installed 7.02 and am rather frustrated for the various reasons I've seen listed on this greatly informative BBS.

I was VERY Frustrated when realized N7 doesn't let you save mutliple messages at a time with the save as like 4.7 did. (I'm so tempted to go back!!) You have to copy the actual folder (or a temp folder if you don't want everything in the folder) and then open them in your text reader.

    1) Are they going to fix it or have they stopped fixing netscape at all because of recent developments?

    2) I've noticed that even though I put the messages in date order and then compact to squish out irrelevant messages, the message do NOT show up in date order (as netscape 4.7 did), and I like them to. Any fix for this?

    AGHGHGHGH!!!

    Welcome to the Forum, Carolindc!

    Hi Carol,

As you have discovered, you can't save selected email to file! It isn't fixed in 7.1 either. You will probably have to move to future releases of Mozilla, or Mozilla Thunderbird for improvements in the Mail & Newsgroups. As you have discovered, the best you can do is move the Mail you wish to archive to a folder, and then use your text editor to open, and make your selection.

To put your email in date order, click on:
View | Sort and make your selection there. If this is what you're doing, and the preference isn't retained, it is sometimes necessary to reset several times. Let us know if it doesn't work for you.

In the Header pane, click on the "Date" tab, and it will put your mail in ascending or descending order.

Let us know if you have further problems.

    Ramona :D

I tried the above and it didn't help with that first batch of messages trying to save. But I had better luck with successive downloads so hopefully it was just a fluke in that folder, but I'll keep checking in those folders where I particularly want to keep the date order since sometimes important for ongoing long-term projects.
