    Hi,
I have read the posts on the hoax that has people deleting the jdbgmgr.exe
I fell for this hoax....The instructions contained in the previous post are for restoring from back up. I do not have a back up.
I have a version downloaded to my floppy diskdrive A.
Could anyone please give me step by step, SIMPLE, foolproof instructions on exactly HOW to put this program back into my system.

    Hello Blakstone,

If you're running XP or ME and have System Restore enabled and have a restore point prior to the deletion, then restore to that point, copy the file out to the My Documents folder and then undo the restore. You can then copy the file back to the windows folder from My Documents.

    Regards - Charles

EDIT: Sorry I missed the sentence saying you have a copy of it on a floppy. The file belongs in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and is called jdbgmgr.exe.

Bring up the A drive thru My Computer and make the panel smaller by clicking on maximize next to the X in the upper right hand corner. If the resultant panel isn't small enough, "grab" the edges with the mouse and move inward, you'll see a 2 way horizontal arrow.

Do the same with your C drive.

After clicking thru to the System folder , right click on the file on the floppy keeping the mouse button depressed and move to the System folder.

And if you have Win98 you should be able to restore from either your Win98 installation CD or from the Cab files--probably most easily by using System File Checker. Post back if you need instructions.
In addition you can still get the latest and full MS Java (Virtual Machine) install here

Jim, Blackstone has the file, doesn't seem to know how to get it back into the Windows folder.

    Did anybody read my post?

    Recovery
The Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java (Jdbgmgr.exe) is only used by Microsoft Visual J++ 1.1 developers.

If you follow the e-mail message instructions and delete this file, you do not have to recover it unless you use Microsoft Visual J++ 1.1 to develop Java programs on Windows XP, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 98, or Windows 95.

TonyT - your point about the vast majority of folks not needing that file is true and well taken.

But on the chance that blakston6286 will feel better with it back on his system, harmless enough to give details for how to put it there.

Thank You for all the great responses.
    TonyT,
I did read in the recovery bulletin link that it was not necessary but I really don't know if for some weird reason or application I may need it someday.
Newt, said it correctly, I don't feel comfortable having deleted it and simply want to put it back on.

Charlesvar, thank you for the instructions on how to drag and drop it in yhe correct folder. I am not very good at all this so I need step by step instructions when finding the route to folders etc. so that was a HUGE HELP.
Thank you so much all of you for all of your help.
