In the old Tweakui there used to be an Add/remove option to get rid of program entries that 'Add/remove Programs' still had in it even though they were already uninstalled. This doesn't seem to exist anymore with the Power Toys Tweakui for Xp. Any idea how to remove these leftover entries?

    Thx,

Here are a couple of MS-MVP replies to that question I found with a groups.google.com search:

You can remove entries in Add/Remove via the Registry. Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Each subkey represents an app or component that is installed. Locate the correct subkey, right click it and select Delete. You may want to choose Export first, to create a backup, just in case you choose the
    wrong one.

    Tom,

It doesn't always work this way for all programs and users. You have
just been fortunate. That is when the manual edit comes into play:

Removing Invalid Entries in the Add/Remove Programs Tool
    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

You may have to contact the manufacturer of the program that you want to
remove if you need to clean up the disk and registry entries. The
procedure described above does not remove all the files and registry
entries used by the program; it removes only the reference in the
    Add/Remove Programs tool.

You might try RegCleaner - Uninstall Menu tab

Go get JV16 (www.jv16.org), install it. Read the instructions and comply. It will find all the files that you can remove from the registry for you. Unless i know i have removed the software, i only remove those marked as "Does not exist ".

This works good for me. If the program is in the Add/Remove Programs and i know i have removed those folders\files, I just run JV16.

It has other functions also and best of all, its FREE.

I have JV16, but forgot it had the option. Used it to do the job. Thanks!

In Tweak UI there are left and right arrows at the top. Right arrow over to add and remove.
