I just started using Windows XP and found that somehow an album of pictures had gotten on to my desktop backgound choices. Their are 21 pictures I have taken in this album so I would like to remove them but don't see any way to do it. I would very much appreciate some help---thanks, Marion McCaleb

    Hi Marion!

The "Windows" background pictures are in the Windows folder. When You right-click on the desktop and choose Properties / Desktop / Browse, it defaults to the Windows folder.

However, if You have chosen one of Your own pictures in the My pictures folder, it will default to that folder or sub-folder in which the chosen picture is stored.

If You again choose one of the "Windows" background pictures or "none ", it will again default to the Windows folder.

    Regards,
    Christer

    Hello Marion,

While you're in there, if you look at the screen saver tab, you have the option to set up your album as a slide show.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks for telling me how the folder works but I'm still having a problem. When I follow the steps you give I do indeed see the album I want to get rid of, in MY PICTURES. I tried deleting it (sending it to the RECYCLE BIN) but the entire album (all 21 pictures ) was still present in the BACKGROUND panel under the DESKTOP tab along with the original XP choices also---what I want to do is delete the album (the 21 pictures ) which is just cluttering up things in the BACKGROUND panel.

Thanks also for telling me about the slide show capability and I'll have to try it once I solve the 'album' problem.

    Best regards, Marion McCaleb

    Marion,
    I´m not sure I follow ...... ......

Have You, in Windows Explorer, deleted a sub-folder of My Pictures but it still shows up in the choises of background pictures?

If You go back to Windows Explorer, is it really gone?

Did You ever use a picture from that folder as background?

If yes, do You still use the same picture?

I don´t know what happens if the folder, containing Your background picture, is deleted while the picture is still in use. So, if yes, choose "no background picture" to see if that solves the problem.

    Otherwise, I´m out of suggestions.

    Christer
