My month old laptop won't do windows updates anymore. I get this error message. "Catalog database corruption in Microsoft Windows XP" I've tried serveral times and have restarted...no luck. The only thing I've done to the computer is to set up a wireless home network. I've had many problems with the file/printersharing part of it and am worried that I changed something in my laptop causing the problem. Thanks for your help.

Find the catroot2 folder in your system32 folder. Rename it to "catroot2.old ".

One of the updates you'll get will concern catalog database corruption.
