Just installed XP with minimal difficulty. I need some help on a couple of things. One, I saved quite a number of files from My Documents in Win(*SE to a floppy, but I can't seem to figure out how to put them back in My Documents in XP.

Secondly, I cant seem to get rid of Messenger which seems to be a pain in the ****. I had one suggestion for a use of Start>Run but that wouldn't work as Windows couldn't find the file. Any Ideas?

To copy files from a floppy to the My Documents folder:
    1. Put the floppy into the floppy drive
    2. Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories, click on Windows Explorer - The left-hand pane of Windows Explorer will show the drives, the right-hand pane shows the contents of the drive or folder clicked on in the left-hand pane.
    3. Scroll the left-hand pane to the top.
    4. Click on "3 1/2 Floppy (A)" to show the files on the floppy in the right hand pane
    5. In the right-hand pane, select the file and/or folder you want to copy to the My Documents folder.
    6. Hover the cursor over the selected file, press and hold down the RIGHT mouse button
    7. While keeping the right mouse button pressed, move the cursor to the left and point it at the My Documents folder (second entry down from the top) in the left-hand pane
    8. Once over the My Documents folder, it will become highlighted and that's when you let go of the mouse button
    9. Select "Copy" from the menu that pops up
    10. Wait for the copying to finish before moving another file.

That's all there is to it.

(Yes, there are other methods. I've found this to work the best for those new to moving files around )

Instructions for several methods of removal of Windows Messenger can be found on this page.
