    Hey folks;

Need a little bit of help

I am running Windows XP Pro.

When I hit the CNTL+ALT+DEL, I used to be able to bring up the task manager.

    Now... I get this message:

TASK MANAGER HAS BEEN DISABLED BY YOUR ADMINISTRATOR.

Heck Fire.. I am the administrator and only user of this computer...

Only thing i haven't done is scan for virus's or trojans or spyware.

Can anyone hep me with this...

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

    Mmmm

Do you use Administrator as your login?

Any thing else not working? Any recent incidents, viri, problem uninstalling.

Anything that needed a system restore?

Then in administrative tools-Computer management-Local Users and Groups.

Properties on your logon name. Is it an administrator?

Do you have the Administrator password?

Looks like pretty good instructions to both disable and enable XP's Task Manager can be found on this page.

In XP Pro, it can be done either through the registry hack explained there or through, as mflynn is suggesting, gpedit.msc (In XP Home, it has to be done through the registry hack).

Interesting that by de-selecting "Remove Task Manager" from "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" options within gpedit, it enables Task Manger. I bet that's created some confusion for a few people. ;)
