I don't know if this is an XP or an app problem, so I'm submitting it under General... MMJB won't rip my purchased cds. It will do a few tracks, then the screen goes blank, ripping stops and I have to reboot. I declined the upgrade to version 8, and retained and reinstalled 7.5 (I purchased the plus so I have a legit key). I have just redone my entire comp, and would like to put some of my favorite music back on the hard drive. A friend said that the cds have ripping protection built in to them because of the new DRMA, but these cds ripped just fine before, using MMJB plus. Any suggestions or comments welcome. TIA

I am running the 7.5 version on XP and have not had that problem. You may want to try turning off programs running in the back ground to see it that helps.

Thanks, Russ. I have very few things running all the time (Thanks to that nifty little start up manager Mike F gave me a link to!:D ) so I don't think it is a process or app conflict. I thought perhaps it was just the particular cd at first, but it happens on all the ones I've tried, even the old old ones (way before DRMA!) I wonder if MMJB is doing this to force me to updgrade (They want $40 for "lifetime upgrades "- mostly for features I'll never use!) I only use MMJB to rip anyway- WinAmp is my player of choice, and I refuse to do anything on WinMP. Every attempt at support from MMJB has been met with a link to upgrade to version 8 (have your credit card handy) and I am getting suspicious. Any suggestions are appreciated. TIA

I really don't know what the problem is but I doubt that it has anything to do with them trying to get you to upgrade. I'm using 7.0 and have no problems at all.

Are you saying that you're entire monitor go's blank or just the MMJB window? Have you tried just ripping one or two songs at a time? If so, is it successful? If so, perhaps it's something related to the pagefile or some type of memory related problem. I'm probably way off the mark here but it's what first comes to my mind.

Yep, the whole screen goes blank. No response from KB or Tball, nothing until reboot. Doesn't seem to matter if I rip a few tracks or a whole cd. I've gotten lucky to get a few cds on the first try, but some require restarting several times. Have a full gig of memory- what do you think I should do about the pagefile? Set it to clear everytime I shut down? Before the reinstall, I would rip 6 cds before rebooting, and never miss a beat, even with other apps open. Now I'm in "diagnostic mode ", doing as little as possible while I'm ripping a cd, trying to figure out if there is a trigger for the blank screen. Seems to be random. Any suggestions are appreciated.
