Drivers from Windows Update

    It clearly depends on the software - some , like Matrox, simply decompress on running the *.exe file - others get on with the installation.

    Sometimes these Windows quirks (printers) are best ignored - life is too short :)

    You´re quite right, Pete, life is too short but we still sit indoors and mess with these stupid contraptions ...... :D ......

    Hmmm,

    Strange! I had installed the new NVidia 44.03 drivers and my XPPRO box started locking up when coming out of standby. Switched back to the MS drivers, and resumes from standby just fine. Of course, my box is that 1 in 10,000 that continually misbehaves! :rolleyes:

    That happens once in a while to me also. So I use the link above to backdown 1 upgrade and try it.

    You have to watch those drivers from M$, as a couple months ago, they were grenading evryones computers who installed them. Only option was to format and reinstall.
