SantaCruz Sound Card locking up

I just installed Windows XP Pro( I had Windows 2000 Pro before). It seems my Santa Cruz sound card is causing all kinds of problems.

The computer freezes (actually just the startmenu/taskbar) when it boots up, for about 10 minutes or so. Internet Explorer will not connect, it just sits there and locks up. Other programs do the same, while others work. ANything that uses sound locks up as well.

I uninstalled the software/drivers and now everything works fine. I went to Dell to re-download and install the driver for the sound card, but the same problem occured, so I had to uninstall it again.

Anyone else have this or similar problems.?

 

Try drivers from the sound card's manufacturer instead of Dell. They can be found here.

Be sure to read the readme.txt file after you unzip the download but before you start installing anything.

 

Still didnt work. I am going to try physically taking out the sound card and putting it back in, maybe in a different slot. Someone else suggested that the firmware on the actual card might not support XP, since it wasnt out when I got the computer. If all else fails I will just buy another card.
