Windows Xp Update

    MISTAKENLY THOUGHT I WAS UPDATING WINDOWS XP, BUT!!!! UNFORTUNATELY ALL I ACCOMPLISHED WAS RELOADING THE PROGRAM OVERTOP OF THE FIRST ONE, NOW NONE OF MY PROGRAMS, ONLINE SERVICE WORK AT ALL. HOW CAN I DELETE THE SECOND DOWNLOAD OF WINDOWS AND GET BACK TO NORMAL? THANK YOU:confused:


    p.s. my system restore doesn't work either, that was my first thought too. still confused.

    Sorry to hear that you have problems - could you please be a little more specific and post exactly what you did.

    NB Appreciate the importance of your post, but please avoid the use of capitals, difficult to read. Board etiquette is lower case.

    juice, I had a problem with a MS update, and ran it again over the first without a problem.

    However, the add/remove in C/P should enable the user to remove the program. You may get some visibility by going to Windows Update to view the installation history to verify the problem. If you are having a problem with a particular MS update, history will give the message that the installation failed.

    If necessary I don't see a problem to put the suspect file in the recycle bin and a system restore back to the period prior to the update.

    You should be able to determine the exact installation time with the R/S calendar. After restoring to prior date, download the update. This procedure is reversible so there isn't anything to lose.
