hello, I have been having trouble with my monitor the last couple weeks,,the screen been changing from clear to fuzzy,,,on and off for no specific amout of time,,,finally today the screensaver was on and when click off my screen was completely blank(white fuzz)...Then I tried to restart computer, when my monitor fired up a on-screen-display popped up and gave me this error:::

    OUT OF RANGE
    Hf:30khz - 70khz
    Vf:50hz - 160hz

    Current Frequency
    Hf - 23.5khz Vf - 53Hz

My monitor at the moment is completely useless, can use any help I can get, running windows98 in a 550 eMachine, thanxs

    monitor

Could be the video card too? Is the vid card built into mobo? check that monitor cable also. Out of range could mean just not recieving a signal via the probs above:)

When I have seen out of range it sometimes refers to the refresh rate of the video card being too high - the monitor telling you it is "out of range" of what it can display.

Can you see the bios flash screen when the computer starts to boot or does it say out of range from the minute the computer starts?

    Cheers,

    ICE

    monitor

To determine what is wrong, take the monitor to another puter & hook it up. Or bring another puter, notebook even works to the monitor & hook it up. If samo "outa range" it's the monitor if works then video card or somewhere in between (wires):)
