I know how to send a 'suppressed list' in Pegasus, since that's my email client, but a friend just asked me if it was possible to do the same thing in Outlook or in Eudora. I have no clue if it is or is not possible.

Pegasus takes all the addresses you specify in a distribution folder and, providing you put the correct code in the "from" and "to" control boxes ( "to: List suppressed "<you@email.com>
followed by your email in the reply-to box ), will send out the email without exposing all the recipients to possible skimmers.

I would think Outlook has a similar function, but since I don't use it, I have no idea of how to instruct him.

    Any clues out there?

    I await with 'minnowed' breath.

    Vince:)

Don't know about Eudora but In OE they can use BCC (Blind Carbon Copy). Tell your friend when he or she adds the names to the email to add them using the BCC button instead of the To button. When the people recieve the email all that will be listed in the "To" line will be "undisclosed recipient" or something like that (been a while since I've used it).

Yup. Outlook and Outlook Express both do that with any addresses in the bcc section.

    Grooby!

Is there a limit on how many you can include in the BCC section? Pegasus has like a 15 address limit ( I think it's based on characters)... I was hoping for something like a distribution list that you could suppress... we're talking well over 150 addresses.

    Thanks

I don't know for sure if there is a limit or not. I don't think so. However, it doesn't really matter anyway as the limit is controlled by the ISP. Many ISP's have a limit as to how many addresses there can be on an email in order to try to cut down on spam. For an example, If you use MSN you are limited to 64 email addresses on one email. Some may be more generous, others less.
