    Hello

I am having great problems with XP. This just started suddenly, all my menu's, buttons, default text in webpages, taskbar buttons, message box text and taskbar text have all become italic, and I cant find any way to get them back

    Any ideas?

I'm trying to get a screenshot to show what it looks like

To see what this looks like if it helps, can be seen one of two ways

    1. going here then clicking on image2.jpg (5th down from top)

    or

    2. copying this url in the adress bar (not directly clicking!)

    http://www.games-creation.com/upload/Image2.jpg

    ==

Observe how some things are affected and others are not.

    Please help. Thanks

  3. to hide this advert.

    fonts

to see if someone has fooled around with the settings, rite click anywhere on the desktop, select settings/properties-Advanced button. Now click on the text "normal" or "select" & look at what font is displayed. Should be Tahoma & the italic button NOT selected:)

I couldnt find an advanced button on the main page of display properties, so I did the one on the appearance tab. Everything there is NOT set to italic, so I cant unerstand where they are coming from

    Any other ideas?

Ok, it would appear it is something to do with the arial font, anything using the arial font comes out italic.

However, if I go into word and type in arial, it looks ok.

Any ideas? Could it of got damaged?

    Hi, Symetrix ~

Did you check each item under the 'Item' drop-down box?

I had the same problem develop after installing XP Pro on a new HDD. I done a disk defrag and there were two or three thing's it couldn't defrag and one of them was a font file. Checked the event/system log and it was showing a bad block on the HDD.

So I right clicked on the Local C: disk/properties/tools and scheduled a check disk with both options selected and rebooted. At step four of the check disk windows replaced the bad clusters in this font file as well as the other's that didn't defrag.

After the check disk was done all the text returned to normal and everything defragged. The event/system logged then showed no bad blocks on the HDD. The text has been normal since then.

    Hope this might help.

    Symetrix ...

If the other suggestions don't work, try repairing your fonts folder with either TweakUI XP or TweakUI 1.33. You'll find Repair Font Folder on the drop-down menu under "Repair" in each.
