Can you copy XP setup files to your hard disk so you don't have to keep inserting the CD everytime you add a windows component? I had this setup with 98SE.

If you can, where in the registry do you tell XP to look for the files on the hard disk?

Copy folder "I386" to whereever you wish. Use tweakUI for XP to direct the installer to you new folder.

I don't know about the registry fix. I use TweakUI for XP.

If XP is anything at all like a SE install the registry will fix itself and point to the loacation of the setup files.

I know that lower versions of Windows all do.

Thanks. I found out where the registry entry is and fixed it from there. It works just fine.

TweakUI performs the "registry fix" so you don't have to do it manually.
