Hi, I am trying to build a system for my young one out of second hand parts. I have a AMD K6-2 550 2.3V CPU, the moptherboard is ,5114vu. The problem is the jumper settings only show 2.2v for an AMD K6-2 550 CPU.
Can I use these two together.

    NEIL.............

I have run into this, myself. I have just tried to run it at the nearest setting to what the chip calls for. Sometimes it works and sometimes I have sporadic system instability--freezes, seemingly unexplainable program errors, etc. However, I have never damaged a board or a CPU trying it.

If the 2.2 volt setting doesn't work out, if it has another setting just above the 2.3 it calls for, try it.

You might also get lucky because that 550 came in two different flavors - with two different core voltages. I'd suggest you visit the AMD site for specifics. Been too long for me to remember.

    Thanks folks,
I have been to an AMD site and found that my 550 2.2v CPU has been known to work at 2.3v this was found in the over clocking section. Note: Keep an eye on the running temp of the CPU.
I may as well give it a go.

    NEIL..........
