Are the clients getting the IP you reserved for them?

I have excluded the entire scope of ip address. I don't want any computers connecting to the network unless they are ours. When I need to add a computer, I just create a new reservation to an unused IP address.

Is this the way to do it?

Sounds good to me. Easier than setting up static info on each device. All you need is the MAC address and the IP you want them to get.

But it isn't a super secure thing since anyone who knew your address scheme could set up their PC with static values (using an open/unused IP address) that matched your settings and get on.

So I guess the answer has to depend on exactly what you are trying to do and how badly you want to do it.
