    BillyBob--
"That is a Windows Operating system error not IE. IE would be IEXPLORE. "
I am not sure those error messages always are precise/correct as to which Explorer has the problem. That's why I provide info on both.

If just the word EXPLORER was mentioned yes, I could see a question or two.

But when you put things together and see the words " "Explorer ", "USER.EXE " and then notes relating to Systray Icons I think we can be 98% assured that it is Internal Windows Operating System corruption.

I see in an earlier post that deleting the .PWL files fixed it temporarily. But not permanenty it seems.

Hello Brett, Billybob, and Welshjim, I have studied your correspondence between each other. It all sounds very complicated. Is my present problem causing any damage to my computer or risk when surfing the net? If I use my "master discs" and restore to original specification would this help? Many thanks for all your efforts. Regards, William.

If the error continues I would suggest a rebuild.

I do not know what kind of a machine you have so I can not really say how to do it but an overtop re-install would do nicely. And save you a lot of work by keeping what you have.

IF done from a DOS Floppy Bootup so that ALL files will be overwritten properly.

Hello Billybob, My machine is a Packard Bell Platinum 4001 Pentium(r) 3 processor. When you suggest a 'rebuild' what does that mean. Regards, William.

I actully should have said a re-install over top.

But seing as how you have a Packbard Bell I have no idea how you would go about it.

But I am sure there should be some way of butting Windows back on top without losing everything and starting over.

This is where I get myself in a jam occasionaly. I am used to doing things my way. And I know for 100% sure that PB would not go along with that. ( I had one once )

Thanks Billybob. Some of these days I will give the 'master discs' a run. I have not that much to loose. I will give you a call and let you know the result. Once again many thanks. William.

Hello Billybob, Just to let you know that I used the 'master discs' to re-boot my computer. A week has now gone by without any problems. Once again many thanks for your time and effort. Regards, William.
