How do I transfer all my contacts from Microsoft Outlook to another computer with a copy of MS Outlook also.

To transfer the correct file, what file would I need to look for and where?

    Thanks

In Outlook go to the file menu, import export. Choose export to a file. Then choose Comma separated value Windows. Follow the Wizard and export the file to a floppy or cd. Then import it on the other computer.

You could also go to Tools -> Services in Outlook and look at the properties of your Personal Folder and note the name and location of the PST file. Simply copy this file to the other computer and add it as a "Service ".

Please note: This will copy EVERYTHING in your Personal Folders like email messages, calendar info, tasks, contacts, etc. You can always delete the extra stuff other than the contacts on the second computer after you copy and setup the PST.

Hulka, I cant find services in the tools menu. How do i add it as a service anyway?

Once i do find the file, I don't know where in the other computer I am meant to transfer it to as there is no Microsoft Outlook folder.

Did you try Sonny's suggestion? That works for me.

You may have to click on the down arrow at the bottom of the drop down menu when you click "Tools" in order to see the full list. You should then see "Services" listed. Once you are in the "Services" screen there will be an "Add" button to add the personal folder.

It really doesn't matter where you copy the PST files to on the other computer, just pick a place and point the personal folder you add in "Services" to the directory/file you copied.

My suggestion is a bit of overkill just to tranfer your contacts to another computer so you might consider sunny's solution.

I've done Sunnys's suggestion but I dont know where to place the file. How do I make the other copy of outlook take my contacts info from this file?

By the way, there is still no services in the tools menu. I have MS Outlook 2002.

    thanks

A-ha! In that case you would go to Tools -> E-mail Accounts. The process in 2002 is not nearly as simple as it was in Outlook 97/98/2000 so sunny's original suggestion is MUCH easier. Sorry to muck up the waters. :p
