    Software: Win 98, OE 6
Over the last several days I have had the situation where the computer will not wake up from standby mode. I have jiggled the mouse, pressed the space bar, ran scan disk, spybot, ad-aware and still keep running into the situation.
I am not sure if this is the same thing but when I leave the computer and it goes into standby mode I am not able to wake it up and therefore anything i.e. e mail message left is lost.
    Any suggestions out there?

    Some things you could try:
Go to Control Panel>Power Management and select "always on ".
Change screen savers to "blank screen ".
Do not use Start>Shutdown>Standby if you are using a desktop computer.

Have run into that problem with Win XP. Don't know about Win 98.

On XP system it was an extra parallel port board that wasn't entirely XP compatible. Removed board n everything worked fine. Called the manufacturer {CompUSA brand) and they said: yeah-that's a problem. (
