Windows 2000 advanced server running active directory, DNS and DHCP.

I currently use dhcp lease and want to change to reservation. I exclude the range of ip addresses and then add the reservation. But my quesiton is, how do I get it to release the current ip address? I am going to do this to about 250 computers.

I did a test reservation and it still shows up in leasing as an "inactive reservaton ". Is this correct?

Is there a way to realease all dhcp from the server? I have 250 clients to do this on.

Should Dhcp lease say "inactive reservation "?

No way that I know of to do it en-mass from the server. There may be a tool but I don't know of any.

If you have a way to mass reboot the PCs, they should try and fail to regain their same IP address when they come back up and take a new one from your modified scheme.

Sorry but no clue about the "inactive reservation" part of your question.
