My friend has a new computer with Win 2k and it works just fine except for one problem and it is only intermittent. There are times when he is ready to shut it down at night and when he tries to click the Start button with the mouse, absolutely nothing happens, yet the mouse will work on the desktop icons and everywhere else, just not on the bottom toolbar. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

The "windows" key (between CTRL & ALT) will do the same thing as clicking on the start button.

Thanks, but do you have any idea why this is happening in the first place?

I have had this and other Mouse problems after installing the Mouse software.

And on the other side of the coin, nothing worked right without the software.

Also other than the default Theme setup has caused me problems at times.

All of these occured in any version of Windows 95 and up to and inclucing XP Pro.

    1. Any event log errors that might relate?
    2. What SP?
    3. Mouse clean?
    4. Tried a different mouse?
