For some reason I have been unable to attach a sound to the empyting of the Recycle Bin. I was sure that I had previously done it in XP. I know I had been able to do it in 95 and 98.

I assign the file and it continues to revert to the XP default. I finally deleted THAT file and then re-assigned mine. Now it simply goes to NONE.

Appartently I am the only with this particular problem because I didn't have any luck on the Microsoft site.

All of the other sounds that I've attached to other "events" work just fine.

    Thanks. :(

Try a Repair of the Recycle bin.

Go here , click on R and scroll down to Replace/Repair Recycle Bin

I'll let you know if it works or not. The sound problem is the only problem I've had with the Recycle Bin.

Does that mean I should still do the repair option?

    Thanks for your patience.

    Pete,

I guess I'm just too dense for this. I went to the link you provided, but when I clicked on the" replace" Recycle Bin, I got a page of garbage. At that point I didn't know what to do?

It should have taken you to This page where you will find a .reg file link. Download that file and then a double-click on restorerecyclebin.reg will write the contents to your registry. Nothing for you to do except the double-click and the file does it's job.

The link is on the right side, down a bit, and named Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin in Windows XP
