Something very strange has happened to my Home Publishing programme. When I try to access it, it tells me that I am missing a file: (1fbmp10n.dll). I have tried uninstallation and re-installing it, but to no avail. What's going on? I really miss it as I use the programme a lot to make cards, etc. Please can anyone help me? :( Thank you in advance.

    Lady Mitch,

Welcome to the board! I tried the find that dll, but I can't. Would you double check it and make sure that it is correct? Thanks.

Thank you for your greeting and trying to help me.
I have double checked that file. The only thing I can't be sure of is if it is '1' (as in the number) or 'l' (as in the letter)
    Hope you can help.
    Regards from rainy Ireland
    Mitch ;)

It's an L and you can download it at

    http://www.apogeerockets.com/rocksim/FILES/DOWNLOAD/

    OR

search for LFBMP10n dll (dont' type the dot before dll) and
you will see many references to it. Maybe there are different versions of it ?

I don't know which Folder you lost it from but probably
    C:\Windows\System
    regards

Thank you Mike and Merlin for your replies.
I think I need to change my experience level to 'complete idiot'! I have found the file on the site you suggested but don't know what to do when a window comes up asking me what programme I want to use to open it. Actually, this is a problem I often have when people send me stuff.
Hope you have the patience to help me a bit more?!!
    Regards,
    Mitch

    click on the link :
    http://www.apogeerockets.com/rocksim/FILES/DOWNLOAD/
when the list of files shows
click on the file name LFBMP10N.DLL
you get a window asking what to do with the file
    click Save
you get a Window that is titled Save As
there is a yellow button with an upward arrow, click it
and scroll down to a folder name you want to save the file in
click Save at the next window
    regards

    Thanks Merlin
Done all that, but I still can't use the file because Windows keeps asking me what programme I want to open the file with.
    None of them are appropriate.
And, by the way, when I followed your instructions and saved the file, I wasn't given the option of saving it to Home Publishing, which is where I want it.
I have now completely uninstalled HP, with a view to re-installation, but it won't let me because I am missing the file!!!
Bet you wish you hadn't replied to me!!

You do not have to "use" the file ie open it with anything.
    Just copy/paste it to C:\Windows\System.
It will be sought and used by one of the application's
    programs.

    Hi. Me again!
I have downloaded the file to floppy (just to make sure that I know exactly where it is!)
I have copied and pasted it to 'Windows: System' and also to 'Home Publishing'. I have also dragged it to both.
Still can't use HP and it still tells me that the file is either corrupt or missing.
'System' and 'Home Publishing' both show that the file is there.
Can you be bothered to try and help me again?
    Regards,
    Mitch

    Mitch,

Did you try the other link for the file? It is a zip file. So if you get an "open with" screen, just point it to your unzip program.

I have looked and looked for an answer to all of this, but can't find anything. The microsoft site was less then helpful. You can try a Home Publishing news group found here. Not sure if you will find anything, but worth a try.

At the time this started happening, did you install or uninstall any programs? What version of HP are you using? What are your system specs? Just trying to find something that might help. :)

    Hi Mike
I can't believe the level of patience that you are showing. I would have given up on me ages ago!!!
Here are the 'System specs' - I think!!
    Memory: 128mb (used 83.3mb)
    Intel Family 6 Model 7.451
    Windows 4.10 (Build 2222A
    Windows 32 on Windows 4.0
    Home Publishing 2000

Maybe these are not the answeres to your question?
I had problems with my IE when I tried to update it to 6, so had to uninstall it. At some stage, my daughter (who is a trainee computer engineer!) spent a lot of time on my computer, sorting it out.
I think I have told you that I re-installed HP. Successfully, I thought, until I came to open it, when I got the same stupid message about file being missing or corrupt. I have re-checked (I think for the fourth time!) and the dll file is in both HP and Windows System. I have even checked that it is unzipped.
Mike, thanks a million for all you are trying to do for me.
One thought. If this dll file is so important, why doesn't it effect any other programme?
    Best wishes from Ireland
    Mitch

    Mitch,

Patience is not a problem right now. I'm just sorry that we haven't found an answer for you yet. Is the family computer engineer stumped on this one too?

Are you using Win NT 4? Did the problem start right after the failed IE 6 install? Have you tried installing 6 again? Did you try downloading the zip file that I linked for you? Have you tried removing both dll files, HP 2000, restarting the system and loading again? I see that HP2000 requires at least Service Pack 4 for Win NT 4. Do you have the latest SP installed?

My thought is to uninstall HP, delete the 2 dlls, install IE6, Service Packs 5 & 6a (if not installed already), and reinstall HP. I know that you have done some of this before, but maybe the combination will help. Of course, if you have IE6 and the latest SPs, I wouldn't go through all of that.

The dll file is probably specific to HP 2000, that is why no other programs are affected. I'll keep try to think of something.

    Mike
