Whenever I play the MMORPG Asheron's Call, I occasionally downsize and check a message board. The problem is, 95% of the time the page brings up a Navy Flash ad that absolutely destroys the performance in the game (A 40 FPS drop).

Thing is, I can't simple switch the page, because I refresh the boards often, and it brings up that same ad at an astonishing rate.

The only thing that fixes it is either lowering the quality, stopping the video, or, of course, refreshing and hoping a different ad comes up..

So, basically: Is there any way I can stop that one ad from coming up, or auto-set the quality to be low?

One way is to use a HOSTS file. A way to redirect or direct a call to a website to another IP address. In other words, tell that ad to look in your computer for the info, of course it isn't there and nothing is done. You just end up with an IE error message right where the ad would be.

    What is the Hosts file?

If the ad server is not in the Hosts file, it can be easily added by following the format in the file.
    127.0.0.1 adserver

  3. to hide this advert.

    Hi, neutropi ~

One thing you could do is download and install the newest version of Avant Browser. It is the fastest and most convenient browser with many very nice features not found elsewhere. It has the feature to push a button at the top of the browser to prevent any flash from being loaded and displayed on the visiting page. Pretty cool, huh?

I has other similar features to toggle on/off video, sounds, pictures, ActiveX content, javascripts, Java applets, and even pop-ups.

Should you need any help at all, they have a great community at the Avant Forum that far outshines support from any other browser alternative.
