Ok. Visit this page and clean up whatever is found. Drop to DOS and type the following commands:-

    smartdrv
    del c:\windows\*.swp
    deltree c:\windows\temp\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\history\*.*

Type WIN to start Windows again and run Internet Explorer's Repair Tool.

If the problem persists, go to Tools - Internet Options - Advanced and disable third-party browser extensions.

Oh ... and just for good measure, run an AV scan.

    Post back with your results.

i have spybot, spyblaster, and ad-ware

they have found no threats but put up a list of registry files all leading back to internet explorer.

i went into the add/remove programs to find the Tools for Internet Explorer. when i tried to do that one I recieved this message:

    Error Loading C:\Progra~1\Common~1\MSIETS\MSIELINK.dll

i did the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools thing in my add/remove programs thing. it did its thing i guess.

i went into dos and deleted those files

    then i defraged

opened ie and got the error message again. closed it out and tried again so i could post this.

i dont know what i did to this thing. maybe it doesnt have enough room to run properly. i dont know. i barely know how these things work.

thank you for helping me. it means alot to me knowing there is someone out there that i can ask questions and get information to learn how to fix things myself. thank you.
