I read the previous post but you lost me on the command line switch as I have no idea what it means.
Anyway...I installed 7.02 on my other computer to try it out. It did not offer to convert any profiles like it did when I installed 7.0. So within 10 minutes of installing it I had to uninstall it as it was already all fouled up.
Why can't I just call the profiles by the same names as in NS 4.78 and import my bookmarks and address books from NS 4.78? It seemed to work.

And, can I just ignore a users.js file and do without it as I have seen the examples and would need the Rosetta Stone to decipher them...I have absolutely no idea of all those things that are in them and do not know how the things were even written or why, or what they mean.

NS4.x was always so easy to use...just install it and use it...and 7.0 streamline standalone browser is a joy...but 7.02 has me completely stymied...it is the streamlined mail and browser.
7.0 automatically converted the profiles and I have had no problems with it, but 7.02 is a different story...

    TIA...

    Hi Dixie,
If you have 4.78 installed on this PC, then you should have seen THIS WINDOW.

Once you install Netscape 7.02, in the event the migration window does not appear:
    Right click the Desktop Icon
    Select "Properties "
    Click on the "Shortcut" Tab

You will see a Target Line similiar to this:
    "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe "
Leaving one space at the end of the targe line, add this command switch:
    -installer

Your Target Line will then look similar to this:
    "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe" -installer

Now, when you click on the Netscape Desktop Icon, the -install switch will force the 4.78 migration window.

This is much, much, simpler than manually moving your Profile files from 4.78.

    Ramona :D

    Thanks, Ramona...

I just uninstalled it again...(I hope it uninstalled as it only took less than 3 seconds.)

I uninstalled it because all my profiles appeared in duplicate including one called *default*, whatever that is. So I uninstalled it and also uninstalled the profiles that were in Windows/ applications/mozilla.

Later, I will install it again but one particularly annoying problem is, it constantly tries to automatically connect to the internet and I don't want to do that. I can't find a way to stop it from doing that.

I have the 7.0 browser on this computer and it never tries to automatically connect...the 7.0 streamline standalone is great and has never had a problem. I am trying the 7.2 complete streamline on a different computer as I *knew I would foul it up and didn't want to put it on here until I knew what I was doing...if that ever happens?

How do I get it to stop trying to connect when I do not want to connect...?

Also, can I get away with NO userprefs as I have no idea what to do with it. Yes, I read about it, and I still have no idea...

    Thanks again...

    Dixie:rolleyes:
