How do you install win 2000 from DOS?
My BIOS does not have "Boot from CD ROM "
I tried: Boot with ME floppy and installed smartdrive,

I386\winnt.exe .... and I get an error message

"Set up was unable to install Windows boot loader "
    Setup cannot continue.

almost a rerun, but a different OS, and still, ...That's the long way around.
    Thanks any way tho !

I read somewhere a while back that I should be able to copy the I386 folder to C and install it from there with out the CD.

Xp and 2K use almost the same type of install! But the I386\winnt.exe does not work for 2K.

But either of the other 2 will!

It sure does, I just did it yesterday using a win98 startup disk. Mkae sure you have smartdrv copied to the startup disk and executed prior to running the setup.

You want torun the setup.exe program (I believe it's also in the i386 folder). DO a setup /? (I think) for options. I know under NT4 you could run setup /b and it would bypass the 3 floppies that were needed to install the OS.
