:( I have some of my files I work on stored on a 3.5 floppy. I can open two of the files but when I try to open the third one I get the following error message. "The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding." Then it says retry or cancel. How do I open this file? Any help would be greatly appreciated because this has happened before. Thanks.

Right click on the filename and select Properties. Uncheck the box named Read Only.

Thank you but I have already checked to see if the read only box was checked and when I went into Properties it was unchecked.
Is there some other way to open the file.:(

You might try copying the file to your hard drive and open it there. If you get an error trying to copy the file then it's most likely in a bad spot on the floppy.

 Well, thank you for the help but my worst nightmare came true. The disk was the problem. I formatted it and it formatted fine but the disk went to the garbage. Don't want to chance it happening again on that disk. A lesson I should have remembered and will from now on - Always make sure to have another copy of the disk - Bye for now.
