I just did a full system restore a couple of days ago because I had a problem when rebooting my computer, it would sometimes take forever to get onto the I-net and to get into my email. Once the system had been rebooted, after waiting up to 3 minutes to finally be able to get on the net, I could put my system on stand-by and it took no time at all to get back on the net or in my email. The problem just came up after a shut down. After I finally got onto the net, all of my downloads came very fast.

Well now that all of that has been taken care of by doing a full system restore, NOW whenever I try to get into my email, I keep getting this stupid screen that pops up that says:

The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3', Server: 'pop3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I went back and sat my email up right after I finished the restore and afterwards, a screen popped up and said that I had successfully entered the right information. Everything looked fine at that time, but today when I went to check my email, this error had popped up across my email screen. I clicked to hide this error and tried a couple of differant things, but the crazy thing is still there and it's about to bug me to death.

I figured that someone on here could tell me what to do to fix this problem since I have gotten so much useful information off of this site.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure your email server isn't down?

Try deleting the account. Close OE. Reopen and re-add the accouint info.

    Thanks for the replies.

The last time that I did a sytem restore, I had this same problem and I had to call Charter Pipeline and they straightened everything out for me, I was just hoping that there was something simple that I could do and that maybe someone on here could tell me what to do.

I will try closing the account and deleting it and reopening it and just see what happens. I know that the server is not down, I have this same problem everytime I do a restore, but it's been so long, I just forgot what to do to solve this problem.

Thanks for the replies and I will be sure and post back and let you know what I come up with.

I have tried just about everything and I still keep getting this crazy error message:

The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3', Server: 'pop3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I just can't seem to find out what the problem is. I can't send or receive any email at this email address.

Is there anymore suggestions out there that can cure this problem up for me ?

I really appreciate any suggestions. If not, I'll just call Charter Communications and have them straighten this out for me.

    Thanks again.

    Pete,

I just don't have a clue what you are talking about with this:

See MS KB 813514 - Error 0x800ccc0d or 0x800ccc0f When Receiving and Sending E-Mail

Is there any other way to be little more specific on what I'm suppose to do with this ? I'm not one of those computer geniuses that alreafy knows a good bit, I am still a beginner.

    Thanks for the reply.

About the blue color font, what is wrong with that ? I thought that it showed up very good and I have never had a problem with anyone complaining about how my posts look.

If that is such an issue and the reason for me not getting many responses to my post, then just let me know and I'll do my best to change it. I just thought black was kinda plain looking and I have always wanted my post to stick out and be differant, but if blue writing is going to cause some sort of discomfort to anyone, I will just change my font color to black from now on.

Thanks again Pete for the reason that I'm not getting any response and for the error that you posted, but I just don't understand what to do with it.

Thanks for all of the help PETE.

I finally called Charter Communications and they walked me back thru step by step. It was really a very simple problem. I didn't type .charter.net after pop3 and smpt. All I had typed in these 2 boxes were pop3 and smpt.

The correct way is pop3.charter.net and smpt.charter.net

I wrote all of this down in a note book that I keep by my computer just for taking notes.

    Thanks again.
