    Sound card, what is it?

You can download AIDA32 - Enterprise System Information program and it will give a lot of information about your system.
Belarc Advisor is not as thorough, but will fit on a floppy if that is needed.

The make and model of the computer, cpu that is in it and the sound card, video card would all be of great help. And if it is a custom / or home built, list the mobo and the cpu.

Do not think I want to guess as that can cause you problems if I guess wrong.
