I have been having a terrible problem with my PC not being able to be put on stand-by mode. Everytime I decide to take a break fromn the computer, I always Log Off/Log Off/Turn Computer Off/ and then I select Shut Down Mode. For the past couple of weeks my PC will not stay on stand-by mode for some reason. I was having another problem with my sytem being very slow getting back on the net and email after the system had been shut down, but after a syatem restore I have solved that problem, but my PC will not stay on stand-by .

I go to Start/Control Panel/Performance & Maintenance and under "or pick a Control Panel icon ", I click on Power Options. On Power Options Properties screen, I have my settings set at:

    Turn Off Monitor>>>>>>Never

    Turn Off Hard Disk>>>>>Never

    System Standby>>>>>>>Afetr 10 minutes

    Sytem Hibernates>>>>>>Never

I have tried all differant types of settings on this, but I don't see any diffeance no matter what I do.

How do some of you all set these settings on and if this is not my problem, what could be ??? A;; I want to be able to do is put my system on Standby mode for when I take a break, co that all I have to do is wiggle my mouse when I come back and the sytem is back up.

I also would like my system to go to standby mode if it has been sitting for XX amount of time when not in use and go to a screensaver and that way I can move my mouse and whatever I had been looking at on the Inet, it will pop up to where I left off at.

Can someone tell me how to set this up? I shouldn't have any problem following any instructions, because I have messed with this a good bit, but I just don't know what settings to set it on.

Thanks for any help that can be given.

    Hi Drag Racer

If I could read your post I might be able to help :D

Please don't use such a small blue bold (?) font - it is almost illegible, even on my 22" monitor. Stick with the standard.

    Pete,
I just can't believe that you have a problem seeing my posts that is in the color blue. I have been using blue or indigo since I registered with this board and have never had a problem with anyone. I almost blind and I can see everyting that I posted with no problems and with no glasses, so I think this problem is just YOU and not my style of fonts.

If the font styles were not meant to be used, the would not be an option for this board.

If anyone else has a problem with my font color, PLEASE let me know and I will change it for good.

No offence intended - obviously taken

Re your problem - it may be due to to your m/b not being ACPI compliant or this feature being turned off in the BIOS.
