Today I have another one for the books. Hope this isn't number 2 in Un-Solved 'XP-isms'.

When I go to do a repair install (XP-Pro), it goes just so far and freezes when it looks for the file: VIAAGP1.SYS ..... The little search window pops up (to locate where it is), but the system is already frozen. Kbrd, mouse, everything, EXCEPT the advertisements that keep changing.

Maybe I should make a copy of the XP cd and place that file and it's 'inf' buddy in the root directory of the cd. But before I start burning myself to cd heaven and back I hope that maybe there is a solution out there.

    Thanks,
    Keith

Seems my life is dedicated to finding the anomolies of un-fixables to Microsoft OS's..

I did that already, previous. Butttttttt. Let me check...

OK. Just double checked. The version of VIAAGP1.SYS in here is 5.1.0.3441. This driver version is what I find in the latest 4in1 (4.46).

Even if it was an older version, I know people that did R.I.'s with the older driver sets.

(Abit at7-max2 w/dd bios rev, lotsa ddr ram, xp2700)

    Thanks
    Keith

There are times I wish I was wrong, if that were the case, these problems would just be a bad dream, I'd wake up and say. phew! All better! :p
