right clicking mouse

I used to be able to right click on a desk top item or program icon and my choices were, send to mail recipient, or create short cut.
After I downloaded aol messenger my choices disappeared. I got rid of aol messenger and my right click still does'nt work right.
When I right click on an item it says send to documents or web publishing.

I went to c:\windows\send to folder, I added outlook express application shortcut in the send to folder.
