I did lots of Windows Updates yesterday and this morning when I booted the PC I could connect to the internet but none of my internet software would work, for example Internet Explorer wouldn't connect to any sites, Windows Messenger wouldn't sign in, nor would AIM nor would Kazaa connect!

I managed to sort this problem by uninstalling Service Pack 1a but I would like it so can anyone give me any information about reinstalling and also configering it!

Also, has anyone else had this problem?

    Thank you,

    Gary

A vague guess - SP 1a does not include MS VM which provides support for running Java - see here

If this is the problem then removing SP 1a would have solved it ??

    Just guessing

    update

I also updated and messed up my cable connection. It was 818043: Recommended Update for Windows XP that did it. The update site said it was not removable but I was able to remove it in Add/Remove. Once I removed this update I got my connection back...
